Clementine + Tarragon Whiskey Sour

Happy first day of Spring! ?

Let’s be honest, I’ve been celebrating the arrival of this day for weeks (months?) already, but tonight I’m enjoying an extra sunny little sipper to welcome the change of seasons with open arms. We’re getting yet another snow storm tomorrow, but at least I have my bourbon to keep me warm! What are you drinking to celebrate Spring?

Recipe:

  • 2 oz bourbon (I used Buffalo Trace)
  • 1.5 oz clementine juice (freshly squeezed)
  • .75 oz tarragon syrup*
  • .75 oz lemon juice

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Strain into rocks glass filled with ice, or one large cube. Garnish with clementine and tarragon.

*Tarragon Syrup

I like to whip up new syrups all the time so I usually create fairly small batches so that there’s no waste. For a small batch of tarragon syrup, combine 50g white sugar with 50ml water in a small saucepan over low heat. When the sugar has dissolved and the mixture begins to thicken, add a handful (super precise measurement 😉 of fresh tarragon and stir. Allow the mixture to simmer for several minutes, then let cool, strain, and enjoy! This will make enough for a few cocktails. For a larger quantity of syrup, simply double or triple this recipe.
