Floral Daiquiri

In the spirit of International Womens Day, I made a cocktail inspired by the most incredible woman I know, my mother. My mom is also the person who first really introduced me to craft cocktails and a favorite of hers is the classic daiquiri. I’ve added the floral flavors of hibiscus, rose, and honeysuckle as a tribute to her favorite time of year, those wonderful warm summer months when she’s off from teaching! ?



  • 2 oz white rum (I used Bacardi Carta Blanca)
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 3/4 oz honeysuckle + rose syrup*
  • 1/2 oz hibiscus tea float

Add first three ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Float hibiscus tea on top using a barspoon and garnish with a single spray rose.

*Honeysuckle Rose Syrup 

This is a very small batch of syrup, enough for a few cocktails. Double or triple as needed.

  • 50g sugar
  • 50ml water
  • 1/4 dried honeysuckle flowers
  • 1-2 tbsp rosewater

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat on low until sugar dissolves. Add dried honeysuckle flowers and simmer for a few minutes, stirring frequently, then turn off heat and allow to cool. Once cooled, strain and stir in 1-2 tbsp of rosewater, to taste.
