In the spirit of the new year and healthier choices, I decided to break out some of my favorite green herbs, toss in some avocado and make my version of a green smoothie.
?NETTLES: can help to control blood sugar and reduce water retention
?PEPPERMINT: soothes the stomach, can alleviate both nausea and headaches (making it a very helpful herb for hangovers!)
?GOTU KOLA: lowers cortisol (stress hormone) and boosts serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine. Shown to improve long term memory.
- 2 oz gin (The Botanist Gin)
- 1/4 of a small avocado
- 3/4 oz organic green herb syrup*
- Juice of one lime
Muddle the avocado, then add all ingredients to a shaker, dry shake to blend, then add ice and shake a second time to chill. Garnish with dried herbs and a lime wheel
*Organic Green Herb Syrup
- 100 g (about a 1/2 cup) white sugar
- 100 ml (about a 1/2 cup) water
- 2 tbsp nettles
