Grapefruit and Ginger Gin + Tonic

This post is part of a partnership with Bad People Book Club. You can learn more about this unique subscription box here!

If you love books and cocktails, the Bad People Book Club is the subscription box for you! Each month they send a beautifully curated box with a novel and a recipe + ingredients for a cocktail inspired by the book. I had so much fun creating this month’s Bad People Book Club cocktail!

Inspired by Zadie Smith's novel Swing Time, this bittersweet, ginger and grapefruit gin & tonic blends flavors from the main character’s home in London with her travels to West Africa. Gin & tonic is an English invention, and a beverage similar to ginger beer is common throughout much of West Africa. The addition of grapefruit emphasizes the bittersweetness of both the cocktail and the book.
