Spiced Berries & Smoke - A Frozen Lagavulin Cocktail
..Sweet, sour, spice, salt, smoke...
I may have lost my mind a little with this one, but for a while now I’ve been wanting to create a cocktail that would marry health-boosting organic ingredients with complex flavors and damn good booze.
I chose rooibos tea, turmeric, and strawberries for their richness in anti-inflammatory polyphenols, raw honey for it’s immune-boosting flavonoids, and ginger and apple cider vinegar for their stomach-soothing properties. And Lagavulin because it’s a health tonic all by itself!...It felt a little sacrilegious incorporating it into drink containing strawberries that was mixed in a blender, but I tested with others (Laphroaig and Ardbeg), and there was no comparison! Forgive me, whisky gods.
- 1 cup of organic rooibos (red) tea, cooled
- 7 frozen strawberries
- 1 oz Lagavulin Scotch Whisky
- 3/4 oz raw honey syrup (1:1)
- 2 tsp organic apple cider vinegar
- 2 tsp organic turmeric
- 1/4 tsp ginger
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 5 drops saline
- Garnish with a bottle of Lagavulin 😉
