Blackcurrant Lemonade

Like a lot of my cocktails, this one came to me in a dream. I do my best work when I’m sleeping. Which isn’t that often since I have a baby. I had a dream the other night involving a beautiful, boozy, deep purple lemonade, so naturally I had to bring that vision to life. I love whiskey + lemonade anyway, but I have a feeling this variation with blackcurrant and thyme will be in my regular cocktail rotation this summer.

Floral Daiquiri

In the spirit of International Womens Day, I made a cocktail inspired by the most incredible woman I know, my mother. My mom is also the person who first really introduced me to craft cocktails and a favorite of hers is the classic daiquiri. I’ve added the floral flavors of hibiscus, rose, and honeysuckle as a tribute to her favorite time of year, those wonderful warm summer months when she’s off from teaching! 🌷

I love creating new recipes but sometimes you want a classic (or a little variation there of). The Aviation is a delicious and beautiful classic cocktail, and I love trying new variations on the theme of: gin, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice, and violet liqueur. Today I’ve subbed yuzu juice for lemon and since I’ve been loving the combo of yuzu + blackberries, I’m replacing the traditional cherry garnish with a tiny lemon boat of blackberries.

Kiwi Passionfruit Margarita

Happy National Margarita Day! 🎉 I’m celebrating with a sweet and tangy passionfruit + kiwi margarita, complete with festive garnish. I had a lot of fun with this one when I realized that a passionfruit fit perfectly in the depression of my margarita glass. I created a tiered garnish with passionfruit and lime halves and topped it with a slice of kiwi and a sprig of mint. What are you drinking today?
