Blackberry and Pink Peppercorn Simple Syrup

This easy recipe adds a unique, lightly spiced, zesty berry flavor to drinks of all kinds. The rich, deep flavor of blackberries is complemented by the citrusy and slightly peppery flavor of pink peppercorns.

1 cup water 1 cup sugar 1 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen) 1 tablespoon pink peppercorns
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir frequently to dissolve the sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until the berries begin to break down.
Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool fully before straining out the solids.
Store the syrup in a glass jar or bottle in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
