Blackberry and Pink Peppercorn Simple Syrup

This easy recipe adds a unique, lightly spiced, zesty berry flavor to drinks of all kinds. The rich, deep flavor of blackberries is complemented by the citrusy and slightly peppery flavor of pink peppercorns.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon pink peppercorns

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir frequently to dissolve the sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until the berries begin to break down.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool fully before straining out the solids.
  • Store the syrup in a glass jar or bottle in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
